Wild Bean Café franchise offer ready to roll out to more independents

February 10, 2020

BP has “a strong pipeline” of independent dealers looking to adopt Wild Bean Café coffee and food to go franchises this year, according to the company.

The franchise proposition was launched last year to independent dealer partners within the BP network, and is ready to roll out further after success at an initial five sites.

Martin Tolson, dealer partner offers manager, said: “BP customers want quality coffee and food on the go. Delivering this in a consistent, convenient and fast proposition is at the heart of the Wild Bean Café offer. We know that the proposition, exclusive to BP branded sites, will give dealers a competitive advantage and encourage in-store purchases to further their business success with BP in 2020.”

Each forecourt receives a bespoke solution, and the proposition includes equipment especially designed for limited back of house space. BP provides full on-site training prior to launch, and digital solutions to streamline and simplify production planning, task management and temperature checking.

Forecourt operator Sectorsure No 10 opened a franchise in Bradwell, Essex, last year. Managing director Andrew MacDonald said: “We have long been supporters of the Wild Bean concept. Our customers have completely embraced the concept with great coffee, superb food available the latest branding looks fantastic.”

Wild Bean Café forecourt locations on average see over 30% of fuel customers purchase in the coffee and food to go category, with a significant proportion of these purchased in the morning and lunchtime trading periods. The offer was developed and refreshed last year to reflect these forecourt customer trends.

There are currently around 300 Wild Bean Café units across the UK, predominantly in BP-owned sites. The BP Dealer network makes up approximately 900 forecourts out of the BP UK network of over 1,200 sites.

German kitchen retailer Kutchenhaus to open in the former Slug & Lettuce unit in Altrincham

February 7, 2020

German kitchen retailer Kutchenhaus is to open in the former Slug & Lettuce unit in Altrincham.

The 8,000 sq ft, four-storey building on Stamford New Road was sold by Cream Investments to Buzz Communications in a deal worth £915,000 back in November 2017, two months after the closure of the bar.

Now, after a long period on the market, the 2,000 sq ft ground-floor space – which has been completely renovated – has been let on a 10-year lease to Kutchenhaus. It will open its doors in April.

The above floors have already been remodelled into six two-bedroom apartments, which are all let.

Joshua Bowyer, Kutchenhaus director, said: “I am extremely excited to be bringing the Kutchenhaus brand to Altrincham.

“It is an area we have been looking at for some time and feel this unit will make a fantastic showroom. We can’t wait to open the doors in April and begin creating wonderful kitchens for the people of Altrincham.”

Established in 2004 at Trafford Retail Park, Kutchenhaus is the UK arm of Nobilia, the world’s largest kitchen manufacturer. It has 31 kitchen outlets around the UK and operates on a franchise basis.

Daniel Lee, director, Regional Property Solutions, responsible for the management of Buzz Communication’s property portfolio, said: “The public realm improvements and new occupiers such as Evuna, Ferrious and Ginkgoon continue to make Stamford New Road a desirable alternative retail pitch for the town centre. This is only set to improve with the impending re-development of The Grafton’s. This commercial letting is the final piece of the jigsaw realising the full potential of this investment opportunity.”

TrustFord officially opens Quick Lane fast-fit centre in Colchester

February 4, 2020

TrustFord has hosted an official opening event for its new Colchester Quick Lane fast-fit aftersales centre.

Colchester is home to the Ford of Britain-owned AM100 car retail group’s head office and, as such, was described as an “important location for the company”.

The 5,000 square-foot new facility, situated on Peartree Road Retail Park, close to Colchester town centre and the Tollgate shopping park, represents a £1.1 million investment for TrustFord.

It is the second standalone site for TrustFord, following the opening of their Prestwich site in Greater Manchester.

Stuart Foulds, the chairman and chief executive of TrustFord, said: “At TrustFord, we’re committed to driving the standard in customer care. We know that efficiency and convenience are crucial for our customers, so we’ve been making investments across our network to ensure the efficient delivery of vehicles and servicing.

“These new facilities will give us the scale and resource to meet our customers’ servicing needs, and help our colleagues deliver the excellent service that they’re known for.”

Wednesday’s (January 29) official opening event saw Foulds and members of his senior leadership team joined by John Dines, operations director at Quick Lane UK; Alan Long, operations manager at Quick Lane UK; and Rakesh Chetal, local operations manager at Quick Lane UK.

TrustFord said in a statement that the employment opportunities delivered by the new Quick Lane franchises will add to TrustFord’s wider commitment to developing careers for individuals, which has been strengthened by a recent partnership with The Prince’s Trust – giving fifteen 18 to 30-year-olds the chance to undertake free training and become technicians at TrustFord and Quick Lane sites.

The Quick Lane franchise was borne out of consumer research into motorists’ needs from automotive repair centres.

Drivers cited transparency, convenience, confidence and a stress-free environment as their key priorities. This created the Quick Lane ethos: to provide ‘convenience with confidence.’

Dines said: “We understand that people value products and services that give them time back into their day.

“We’re taking away the inconvenience of vehicle repair by offering a rapid service that fits around our customers’ busy lives.

“Our focus is on being brilliant at the basics and providing local motorists with transparency, convenience and confidence and this will be reflected in our new Colchester site.”
