HEREFORD’S complement of eateries could soon face new competition from a grilled chicken franchise – Pepe’s Piri Piri.

A let has now been agreed at 21 Commercial Street, formerly the Matabeau Café, which has been empty since the business closed in January 2017.

Multi-national franchise Pepe’s Piri Piri has now made a planning application to extend opening hours to 11pm at the vacant unit.

The company’s application said: “The proposed extension of hours will allow the business to open until 11pm serving customers with healthy grilled food, coffees and teas.”

If approved, the restaurant will be open from 11am to 11pm seven days a week and will create five full time and three part time jobs.

The consultation will end on April 4.

Pepe Piri Piri currently has 88 restaurants in locations across the UK, offering grilled chicken, burgers and rice dishes amongst other items.
