Mail Boxes Etc.
Join one of the world’s most successful franchise groups!
Opening a Mail Boxes Etc. post, parcel and print centre offers you the chance to be part of one of the world’s largest non-food retail franchises. This global reach makes ours a widely recognised brand with a 1,600-strong growing network.
Our high street, one-stop-shop concept offers a mix of expert commercial services to help meet the everyday needs of local businesses and consumers. Our customers range from small businesses, students and overseas visitors to buyers and sellers, dealing in the fine art and antiques sector.
We have more than 150 stores in the UK and Ireland, and we are looking for motivated, business-minded individuals, with strong networking and interpersonal skills to expand our network.
Mail Boxes Etc. is much more rewarding than a simple retail franchise because we’re about so much more than serving one-off customers at the till. A successful MBE franchise is achieved by developing strong relationships with your local business community, establishing a reputation for quality and personal service, networking and and winning repeat business.
What we do
Our business is post, parcel and print. We offer local and international parcel delivery, together with expert packing; design, print and copy; mailbox rental and ‘virtual address’ services for individuals and businesses; Royal Mail postal services and office supplies and stationery.
It’s a shipping franchise one minute and a printing franchise the next – a mix that makes each local MBE store a hub for the community it serves.
Why choose a Mail Boxes Etc. franchise?
There are many reasons to choose a franchise with our long-established network, not least the fact that some of our UK and Ireland franchisees have been trading for over 20 years! Here are just a few more reasons why a Mail Boxes Etc. franchise gives you the best chance of long-term success.
- Committed to finding the best location for your business
- A multi-faceted revenue model
- Ready to innovate
Buying a business
When it comes to franchise opportunities, we offer a complete turnkey package to successful applicants. Your previous experience is important. Our most profitable franchisees have strong commercial skills, are able to communicate well and will work hard to establish a reputation amongst local businesses.
We’re looking for aspiring entrepreneurs and we will give you all the training, set-up support, award-winning marketing campaigns and operational back-up you need to help you drive your local sales activity.
Most of our franchisees build their businesses from scratch, but if you are interested in buying an existing franchise for sale, we have a range of established store opportunities too.
When we say that our franchisee training and support is extensive, we really mean it.
When you become part of the Mail Boxes Etc. network, not only do you align yourself with a globally successful business concept and an established brand, you also get the commitment and dedicated support from our UK head office, local area franchisees and network support teams.
Our support package includes:
- Pre-opening, site location and lease negotiation – we’ll help you find the right location for your new MBE store and negotiate favourable lease terms.
- Financing assistance and business planning – we’ll advise on the financial undertaking required to get your business off the ground, help with introductions to the leading high-street banks for start-up funding and provide templates for business modelling.
- Area operational support – our experienced area franchisees and network support teams will be there to ensure you have all the help and guidance you need.
- Pre-launch and ongoing training – our comprehensive training programme covers every aspect of the business in a combination of in-depth seminars and lectures coupled with hands-on training in store.
- National marketing support – our head office team masterminds a mix of traditional and new media marketing activities designed to generate sales leads, drive customers to your store and increase sales, supported by a range of promotional materials that you can use for local campaigns.

My experience with the Bath franchise was less than expected. I left a parcel with them on Monday 07 December for delivery by FedEx on the following Monday 14th to Jerusalem. I received an email from Mail Boxes Etc indicating delivery by 6pm local time on the 14th. By Thursday, using FedEx tracking system it arrived early morning in Cologne. There is stayed, and I rang the Bath office three times to ask them to find out what the problem was. Not once did they have the courtesy to ring me back with an update. I had to chase FedEx myself to see what was, or not, happening to my parcel. FedEx was just as bad, no feedback. It eventually arrived two days late in Jerusalem, still not explanation or apologies have been received to date, 18th. The attitude of the Bath office sucks, they just do not care about customer service or satisfaction.

My first impression, gained from meeting franchisees, franchise support staff and the head office team, was very positive. I was confident that the potential for profit and growth was strong in the city, which has a good representation of MBE’s target markets including the university, tourists throughout the year, local businesses and an affluent local population.

I wanted a franchise in a completely different sector to the one I knew after a career in the wholesale food and drinks market. My search led me to MBE which impressed me greatly with its wide range and variety of customer services.

After a busy working life I knew I needed plenty to do and felt that retirement could be my opportunity to try something entirely different. I wasn’t sure what to do so I considered several options before I discovered franchising. I was used to handling a large school budget but with no previous business experience I was not confident about starting a venture on my own whereas I was beginning to appreciate the benefits and advantages of franchising, with training and support, so I decided to investigate it more closely. After a lifetime in education, running a business services franchise is different but equally rewarding. Now I’m hoping that one day I can achieve my other post-retirement ambitions to own a narrow boat and go back to the Himalayas.

MBE matched exactly what I’d been looking for and I’m thrilled to say that things are going really well. I believe MBE’s strength is in its ability to adapt to constantly changing demands as business methods change and by tailoring services to suit the local market place to ensure we provide what customers want.
