Busylizzy Family Club welcomes its new trio

Busylizzy Family Club has in three months welcomed three new franchisees for the territories of Camberley, Epsom and Leatherhead, and Putney.

The family club offers pregnancy and postnatal fitness sessions, baby and toddler classes, talks and family events. Customers are not restricted by term time intake as the clubs are open 51 weeks a year.

Customers sign up to a monthly membership that allows them to attend a certain amount of classes a week, depending on their chosen financial commitment with classes conveniently booked online.

Busylizzy is ideal for women who join the club when they start their maternity leave as it offers them a host of classes, talks, events and a built in support network of like-minded mums, all the way through from birth to her child going to school.

The company was founded in 2011 by leisure industry professional Julie Clabby and solicitor, Sarah Batterbury, and started franchising in 2014. It now has 17 franchisees across 20 territories.

In 2016 the franchise won the BFA Emerging Franchisor award for ‘its modern, technology-led approach to mother and baby fitness classes and the flexibility and results it offers franchisees’.

The company says its franchisees are predominantly professional women, sometimes members themselves, who have chosen not to return to work after their child was born. As the franchise is run from home it suits them and their often young families.

In-house marketing services
Busylizzy says unusually for a relatively small business franchisees benefit from its ‘exceptional marketing service,’ with Clabby’s husband Martin joining the company in 2016 from his digital marketing agency. Franchisees have access to in-house design and social media team that runs regular in-house competitions, incentives and marketing initiatives.

Discussing the franchise offering, Clabby said: “Sarah and I both know exactly what it is like to juggle work and family and we’ve been able to bring all our experience to the fore in creating our franchise model. We operate a ‘family first’ policy in the company, encouraging franchise owners to be ‘unavailable’ after 2.30pm to ensure they get the right work/life balance.

All our franchisees and customers are smartphone using mums so we need to provide them with eye-catching marketing material and easy to use technology to help their businesses thrive. We work tirelessly to develop new campaigns, new initiatives and social media posts for our franchisees to benefit from.”

The typical start-up cost for a Busylizzy franchise is £18,500 plus VAT with a minimum personal investment of £7,500. The company runs online informal Explorer Meetings for prospective franchisees wishing to learn more about its franchise opportunity.
