Molly Maid recognised for award-winning franchisee support

The Best Franchise Awards recognises exceptional UK franchisors as rated by their franchisees and Molly Maid have once again received the prestigious 5-star rating.

 
The 2020 awards will be one for the record books considering the significant efforts leading franchisors like Molly Maid have delivered to franchisees to help them overcome the impacts of the coronavirus. Franchisees are asked to anonymously rate their satisfaction in key areas of the support they are provided such as; training, culture and relationships and leadership.

We are equally as proud of the direct feedback from franchisees about the support they received during the current pandemic. Their feedback highlighted how closely they felt supported during these unprecedented times. Firstly how we helped to protect their business with our guidance on how to secure funding through Government schemes, then providing our processes to help them in the reassurance to their staff and customers through the development of our HomeSafe procedures.

Our HomeSafe processes enabled our franchisees to be some of the first businesses back following lockdown, allowing us to safely continue operating regardless of the restrictions in place and is why we have already returned to over 85 per cent of our pre-COVID sales levels.

Horsham home cleaning firm gears up for a return to work

Home cleaning service Molly Maid is gearing up for a return to business in Horsham following the easing of lockdown.

Horsham franchise owner Hayley Emmett, who runs a team of 21 employees, said: “It feels great to be one of the first businesses getting back to work.

 
“The response from our customers has been phenomenal and our employees are glad to be back working.”

Although cleaning services provided in customers’ homes were never required to cease operating during the lockdown, Molly Maid decided it was the right thing to do to keep employees and customers safe.

Hayley said: “It was a really tough decision to stop providing our home cleaning services – especially to our older and vulnerable customers. Most can’t properly clean their home themselves so it’s an issue of health and safety.

“But it is also about the health and safety of our employees”. She added: “If we couldn’t safely bring our employees back to work and safely provide our cleaning services to customers, then we would not be able to resume cleaning”.

The company has introduced several changes as part of ‘HomeSafe’ procedures including daily health checks of their teams following NHS guidelines, implementing social distancing measures between teams, customers and within customers’ homes, along with the use of a sanitising cleaner.

Hayley added: “It’s important that local businesses like ours help our community get back on its feet.”

Maidenhead cleaning franchise set for UK-wide expansion

Molly Maid has secured an £800,000 funding package from HSBC to support its ambitious UK expansion plans.

The six-figure funding package from HSBC has been used to purchase assets, including the company’s Maidenhead HQ Molly Maid House, which was previously rented, and free-up capital.

It will also help Molly Maid reach up to 25 new markets across the UK in the next five years, making it one of the sector’s fastest growing businesses.

The company will be complementing existing franchise locations by opening its own sites, with a focus on the Midlands and the South of England.

Immediate plans include expansion into Southampton, Bristol, Cambridge and Banbury, following Molly Maid’s recent successful expansion in Norwich.

Molly Maid UK president and CEO, Kevin Hipkins, said: “Driving national expansion is top of our agenda and with HSBC’s support, led by our relationship manager at the bank Tom Gooder, we’ve had the confidence to commit to an ambitious five-year growth plan.

“The move to expand will see us setting up a readymade business in target locations, enabling us to establish the Molly Maid brand in new regions and capitalise on the booming demand for professional household cleaning services. We estimate the industry is valued at more than £2.7bn and growing.”

Sharon Byde, HSBC’s area director for West London Business Banking, added: “Molly Maid’s fast-paced expansion plans show great ambition, with multiple new locations planned in the next five years.

“The brand is already well-known but with this new funding for its future plans, it’s set to become a household name nationally. We look forward to working with Kevin and his team to help the business reach its full potential in new locations across the UK.”
