April 20, 2020

ECO-CONSCIOUS home improvers in Colchester have helped recycle the equivalent of 30 million plastic straws… by having their driveways resurfaced.

Oltco Colchester has been leading the way in the implementation of the firm’s Recycle Bound technology, which uses waste plastic to create brand-spanking new resin driveways for customers up and down the country.

Since the technology launched a year ago, it has recycled the equivalent of 30 million plastic straws nationwide.

He said: “Recycle Bound has been hugely successful and we are grateful for all the individuals, and companies based in Colchester, who have come on board in a bid to help us tackle the global issue of plastic waste.

“We are proud to have already installed Recycle Bound in areas including Colchester, Tiptree and Clacton.”

The Recycle Bound product took two years to develop and uses the equivalent of 3,000 plastic straws over each square metre of driveway, meaning on a standard 50 square metre drive, the equivalent of 150,000 plastic straws would be recycled in the process.

It is already winning serious praise in the environmentally-friendly business world, including being named runner up for Recycled Product of the Year in the National Recycling Awards.

Commercial firms are now taking notice and it has been used on large scale projects such as hotels and visitor attractions across the country.

Oltco, the resin bound driveway and flooring company, has launched its franchise model and opened its first franchise in Blackpool, Lancashire.

Established in Cornwall as a family business 15 years ago, the business provides driveways and flooring for both domestic and commercial clients. Oltco says it has worked for a number of national clients and is renowned for its expertise, premium products, quality installation and outstanding customer service.

Oltco explains its dedication to excellence can be found throughout every aspect of the business, from staff wellbeing to product innovation and sees its franchise opportunity as the next phase of growth so that its success can be mirrored across the UK.

The Blackpool franchisees Alex Hoskisson and Jonathan Stringer, from Lytham St. Annes and Blackpool respectively, had in-depth training at Oltco’s head office in Newquay prior to opening the franchise. Funding support
The average investment for an Oltco franchise is £15,000, plus £5,000 for a marketing launch campaign (figures exclude VAT). The company adds that it expects working capital of £25,000 to be considered for additional funding for vans, initial products, wages and additional marketing. The company says it can offer support with this due to its partnership with NatWest.

To ensure each franchisee joining the company embraces Oltco’s core values, which it says forms the foundation of the company’s success, both franchisees and employees will receive full training and ongoing support.

Oltco’s offers a range of flooring treatments including self-levelling screeds, non-slip flooring, decorative resin, polyurethane resin screeds and rubber playground flooring.
